ProLabs Lands Leading Optical Design Expert
ProLabs has announced that it has hired a top optical design engineer to help extend its expertise in the marketplace.
The leading independent provider of global optical network infrastructure products revealed that Giacomo Losio has joined the company as head of technology. Mr Losio will join from Cisco Systems where he was the lead optical design engineer.
At ProLabs he will be responsible for leading the development of the company’s technology roadmap while also supporting its wider objective of dominating the expanding market for compatible optical technologies. In a statement the firm said that Mr Losio would be based in Cirencester reporting to Stephen Burke, vice president, EMEA.
Mr Losio has 14 years’ experience working in the optical transport system design. He also spent eight years in project and programme management. In the past he played a major part in developing the key building blocks of Cisco's optical solutions such as DWDM XFP, Tunable XFP, MLSE 10Gbit/s transponder, coherent 40G PM-DQPSK.
He is the latest in a line of big appointments made by the company; he follows Ward Williams, chief commercial officer, and Stephen Burke, VP of EMEA sales, both from TE Connectivity; and Stephen Crick, UK account manager, from Teneo.
Nick Moglia, CEO of ProLabs, commented: "This is a major win for ProLabs. Our ability to attract and recruit world-class talent, such as Giacomo, is a testament to the value proposition and clear differentiation in quality, service and support that ProLabs is bringing to the optical supplier market.
“We are pleased to welcome him to the team as we redefine the marketplace."
