Mellanox Collaborates To Create Hyper-Converged Infrastructure
Mellanox Technologies has announced that it has collaborated with Super Micro Computer to create a new hyper-converged infrastructure.
The company, a leading supplier of high-performance cloud networking solutions, said that the collaborative project would to provide customers with hyper-converged OpenStack cloud-in-a-rack solution. These solutions will be based on Mellanox CloudX reference architecture along with Super Micro servers and storage
Mellanox added that the new infrastructure would also feature OpenStack cloud management software from Mirantis, and the state-of-the-art open source, scale-out, software-defined storage solutions such as Ceph and EMC ScaleIO.
As more and more organisations turn to the cloud they are seeing increasing value in pre-validated infrastructure that integrates computing, storage, networking and software into an efficient, application-centric cloud solution that is simple to deploy and easy to scale. They also require fast storage and powers CPUs for their high performance environment.
Mellanox’s 10/40/56Gb/s interconnect products underpin a set of reference architectures that help businesses build turn-key, elastic and efficient cloud powered by high-performance, software-defined networking (SDN).
Kevin Deierling, vice president of marketing at Mellanox Technologies, commented: “We are confident that the collaboration with Super Micro will help further expand the footprint of Mellanox CloudX and bring unparalleled simplicity, elasticity and efficiency into our joint customers’ cloud deployments.
“This is not just a rack of hardware, but truly a turn-key cloud solution that is designed to run business applications right out of box, thanks to the advanced software integration with OpenStack, Ceph, and ScaleIO from our leading software partners such as Mirantis and EMC.”
